Deuteronomio 29

1
And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them: Ye have seen all that HaShem did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;
And Moses called all the sons of Israel and said to them, Ye have seen all things that the Lord did in the land of Egypt before you to Pharaoh and his servants, and all his land;
2
the great trials which thine eyes saw, the signs and those great wonders;
the great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great wonders.
3
but HaShem hath not given you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
Yet the Lord God has not given you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, until this day.
4
And I have led you forty years in the wilderness; your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.
And he led you forty years in the wilderness; your garments did not grow old, and your sandals were not worn away off your feet.
5
Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink; that ye might know that I am HaShem your G-d.
Ye did not eat bread, ye did not drink wine or strong drink, that ye might know that I [am] the Lord your God.
6
And when ye came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them.
And ye came as far as this place; and there came forth Sihon king of Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, to meet us in war.
7
And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of the Manassites.
And we smote them and took their land, and I gave it for an inheritance to Reuben and Gad, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh.
8
Observe therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may make all that ye do to prosper.
And ye shall take heed to do all the words of this covenant, that ye may understand all things that ye shall do.
9
Ye are standing this day all of you before HaShem your G-d: your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Israel,
Ye all stand today before the Lord your God, the heads of your tribes, and your elders, and your judges, and your officers, every man of Israel,
10
your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in the midst of thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water;
your wives, and your children, and the stranger who is in the midst of your camp, from your hewer of wood even to your drawer of water,
11
that thou shouldest enter into the covenant of HaShem thy G-d--and into His oath--which HaShem thy G-d maketh with thee this day;
that thou shouldest enter into the covenant of the Lord thy God and into his oaths, as many as the Lord thy God appoints thee this day;
12
that He may establish thee this day unto Himself for a people, and that He may be unto thee a G-d, as He spoke unto thee, and as He swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
that he may appoint thee to himself for a people, and he shall be thy God, as he said to thee, and as he swore to thy fathers, Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob.
13
Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;
And I do not appoint to you alone this covenant and this oath;
14
but with him that standeth here with us this day before HaShem our G-d, and also with him that is not here with us this day--
but to those also who are here with you today before the Lord your God, and to those who are not here with you today.
15
for ye know how we dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the midst of the nations through which ye passed;
For ye know how we dwelt in the land of Egypt, how we came through the midst of the nations through whom ye came.
16
and ye have seen their detestable things, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were with them--
And ye beheld their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which are among them.
17
lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from HaShem our G-d, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;
Lest there be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart has turned aside from the Lord your God, having gone to serve the gods of these nations; lest there be in you a root springing up with gall and bitterness.
18
and it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying: 'I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart--that the watered be swept away with the dry';
And it shall be if one shall hear the words of this curse, and shall flatter himself in his heart, saying, Let good happen to me, for I will walk in the error of my heart, lest the sinner destroy the guiltless with [him]:
19
HaShem will not be willing to pardon him, but then the anger of HaShem and His jealousy shall be kindled against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book shall lie upon him, and HaShem shall blot out his name from under heaven;
God shall by no means be willing to pardon him, but then the wrath of the Lord and his jealousy shall flame out against that man; and all the curses of this covenant shall attach themselves to him, which are written in this book, and the Lord shall blot out his name from under heaven.
20
and HaShem shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that is written in this book of the law.
And the Lord shall separate that man for evil of all the children of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in the book of this law.
21
And the generation to come, your children that shall rise up after you, and the foreigner that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses wherewith HaShem hath made it sick;
And another generation shall say—even your sons who shall rise up after you, and the stranger who shall come from a land afar off, and shall see the plagues of that land and their diseases, which the Lord has sent upon it,
22
and that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and a burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which HaShem overthrew in His anger, and in His wrath;
Καὶ ἐροῦσι πάντα τὰ ἔθνη, διατί ἐποίησε Κύριος οὕτω τῇ γῇ ταύτῃ; τίς ὁ θυμὸς τῆς ὀργῆς ὁ μέγας οὗτος;
brimstone and burning salt (the whole land shall not be sown, neither shall any green thing spring, nor rise upon it, as Sodom and Gomorrah were overthrown, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in his wrath and anger)—
23
even all the nations shall say 'Wherefore hath HaShem done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?'
and all the nations shall say, Why has the Lord done thus to this land? what [is] this great fierceness of anger?
24
then men shall say: 'Because they forsook the covenant of HaShem, the G-d of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them forth out of the land of Egypt;
And [men] shall say, Because they forsook the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers, the things which he appointed to their fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt:
25
and went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods that they knew not, and that He had not allotted unto them;
and they went and served other gods, which they knew not, neither did he assign [them] to them.
26
therefore the anger of HaShem was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curse that is written in this book;
And the Lord was exceedingly angry with that land to bring upon it according to all the curses which are written in the book of this law.
27
and HaShem rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day'.--
And the Lord removed them from their land in anger, and wrath, and very great indignation, and cast them out into another land as at present.
28
The secret things belong unto HaShem our G-d; but the things that are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
The secret things [belong] to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed [belong] to us and to our children forever, to do all the words of this law.

JPS 1917 — The Holy Scriptures according to the Masoretic Text

1–36, siglo III a.
